The Taronga Conservation Society Australia environment program is integrated with Occupational Health and Safety. The OHSE program is focussed on continual improvement and strives to achieve best practice in both areas of management

The Environment program at Taronga and WPZ includes a range of integrated programs which include:

• Energy Management & Conservation;
• Chemical Management;
• Waste Reduction & Management;
• Green Purchasing; and
• Water Management & Conservation;

The Taronga Conservation Society Australia Environment Program is based on the principle of Environmental Stewardship.  The Taronga Conservation Society Australia has implemented the Environmental Stewardship Strategy which has included the introduction of the Taronga Conservation Society Australia “Stewardship Team”. The Team is made up of a diverse range of staff across every section of the Zoo as acknowledgement that Environmental Management is everybody’s responsibility. The team assists OHSE with the implementation of environmental initiatives and improvements as well as the important task of keeping our culture green.
