Wombats can be pushy, they are able to reach speeds of up to 40km/hr and can use their hard plated rump to crush the skull of intruders against the burrow roof.

Zoo Adventures is a thrilling educational holiday program which takes children on an amazing zoo adventure. Each day incredible Behind the Scenes experiences, hands-on animal encounters, art and craft and educational activities and games are linked to a particular animal theme.

Monday 27th September – Trainer for a Day
See up close just how our Bird Show Trainers get great cooperation from our fabulous birds and how you could apply these techniques with your pets at home – maybe even your friends!!
Tuesday 28th September – Eggs To Legs
Some have feathers, some have scales and some even have fur….Today we are going to investigate exactly what CAN hatch out of eggs and the different ways it happens.
Wednesday 29th September – Spring Babies
It’s Spring and there’s no better time than to go looking for our newest special babies – ones that come in POUCHES of course!
Thursday 30th September – Have you “Herd” about these Animals??
Today we are going to feature some of our animals that hang around together in the wild and the reasons why they do. We may visit our fabulous Zebra and the amazing Barbary Sheep….What animals do EWE think they look like?
Friday 1st October – Don’t Crowd Me!!
We are going to find out some very interesting facts today, about animals that live alone and the different adaptations that go with this way of life. We’ll see Orang-utan and also the mysterious Bongo…I’m not talking about drums!! We will be having a barbeque to finish off our first week with a BANGer or two!
Tuesday 5th October – Black and White – Now you see us, now you don’t!
Why are some animals black and white? Does it sound like they camouflage well in their habitats?? Well let’s find out when we talk to a keeper about Tapirs and some other black and white creatures we have in the Zoo.
Wednesday 6th October – Who “knows” whose “NOSE?”
Some animals have trunks, some have huge jaws and some have proboscises? Let’s find out what all this means from our keepers and see for ourselves up close!
Thursday 7th October – Relatively Speaking!
Let’s go and see our Chimps up close and learn all about the similarities we share with them. You’ll be amazed!! Don’t forget to have some questions ready for our keeper!
Friday 8th October – “Polly Want a Pirate?!”
Come and join us for an “All Aboard” day in the true Pirate Way. Come along dressed in your finest pirate gear! There will be a Treasure Hunt, Walking the Plank and lots of activities fit for any Landlubber!! We’ll even hear some news, straight from the Parrot’s mouth. There’ll also be a Hearty BBQ to fill us all up!
