Course Details

Certificate II in Animal Studies ACM20110 (evening course)

Duration: 1 year

  • Classroom sessions will be conducted once a fortnight from 4pm to 8pm at Taronga Zoo, Bradleys Head Road, Mosman.
  • Fifteen practical days are required.
  • Ten of these will be offered at Taronga Zoo, students will be required to organise five practical days at another animal care institution approved by Taronga Training Institute.
  • Important: Due to high demand for TTI course, enrolment and acceptance into courses is on a first come, first served basis, subject to the applicant meeting the course entry requirements.

Certificate II in Animal Studies ACM20110 (HSC students)

HSC 2012 Enrolments are closed

Duration: 30 weeks

  • 4 units of HSC
  • Classroom sessions will start the first week of March and will be conducted once per week on a Wednesday from 12:30pm to 3.45pm at Taronga Zoo, Bradleys Head Road, Mosman.
  • Fifteen practical days are required.
  • Ten of these will be offered at Taronga Zoo, students will be required to organise five practical days at another animal care institution approved by Taronga Training Institute.
  • Enrolment in this course needs to be co-ordinated with the students’ school. If you are a student who would like to enrol please have your careers counsellor contact us.

Once students have completed their Certificate II in Animal Studies they can progress to the Certificate III in Captive Animals.

Certificate III in Captive Animals

A Certificate III in Captive Animals is a pathway to zoo keeping, or an ideal qualification for those who wish to work in aquariums, wildlife parks and theme parks.
