Taronga Western Plainz Zoo education programs inspire people of all ages to make a personal contribution to conservation. Through formal education and community programs, we aim to engage and influence attitudes to wildlife, encouraging positive behaviour changes towards protecting the environment and wildlife.
Our education team provides quality learning experiences and unique wildlife encounters for a wide range of people through curriculum-based education programs and workshops, indigenous education programs, sleep-over and holiday programs, professional development opportunities and community outreach.
With workshops tailored to teachers’ needs and in line with the NSW syllabus, taking advantage of Taronga Western Plains Zoo Education Centre means your class will get more out of their trip to one of our Zoos.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s Living Classrooms brings learning to life by immersing students in nature and letting them to interact with a variety of animals.
For a truly enchanting Zoo experience, bring your class along to a Twilight Safari, where students will enjoy a BBQ supper and discover wild creatures on a night walk.
Taronga Zoo delivers a range of Aboriginal education programs that have been developed with local indigenous communities and which aim to support Aboriginal students and their culture.
Students on work experience at Taronga Western Plains Zoo will spend each of five days at a different division of the life sciences department. One student per school will be accepted.
